Purpose

Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20 NIV

     The world of business realizes that they must know their purpose for existence based on their product or service and those they seek to sell or serve.  We Christians must also realize that we have a purpose.

     As Lutheran Christians we have always stressed that we are sinners, redeemed by the grace of God, called to serve Him by sharing the message of the Gospel with a sin-darkened world.

   As members of Immanuel Lutheran Church we affirm this in the Purpose statement of our Constitution:

   "We as redeemed children of God, acknowledge that it is the will of our Lord Jesus Christ that we, His disciples, should preach and teach the Gospel to the whole world (Mark 16:15:Matthew 28:18-20:Acts 1:8)."
